Well, I can only make a guess . .
- About 11% of Harvard student's are international, and most of those student's go home for the summer.
- about 5% of Harvard student's are american's who's families live abroad, so they go home for the summer.
- About 40% of Harvard student's come from families that can afford to pay the full-sticker price of $60k per year. Many of those families regularly make trips to Europe and Asia for the summer and during the winter/spring breaks.
The reality is that more 60% of Harvard families are on financial aid, and while they can apply for financial aid for international summer study programs, it still cost’s about $5K, not including airfare to send your kid overseas for the summer. That’s not something our family could afford. Instead, my kids worked during the summer to earn money for college.
