Suggestions for schools? Chance me for ones I've considered?

I'm from Silver Spring, Maryland, in a well below average high school. I'd like suggestions for schools to attend, as well as to be chanced for schools that I have considered and like.

I'm a rising senior and here are my credentials:
3.38 GPA Unweighted (3.88 weighted) I have had an upward trend in class grades(I have started with a 3.0 at the end of freshman year). Here are all my classes:
Freshman: Hon English 9
Hon Alg. 2
Hon Physics
Hon U.S. History
Introduction to Engineering Design
General PE
Concert Band(I play the French Horn)
Resource(students with disabilities have this. I use it as a study hall.)

Sophomore: Hon English 10
Hon Precalculus
Hon Biology
Hon NSL
Pre-Engineering(Advanced tech credit, substitutes F. language for graduation)
PE 1st semester, Health 2nd semester(1/2 health credit is required)
Symphonic Band(Advanced Band)
Resource

Junior: AP Language and Composition(Got a 2 on the exam; autism hampers my inferential skills. I don't want college credit anyway; mom wants me to take this class in college)
Honors Calculus/Calculus with Applications(whatever you want to call it)
Honors Chemistry
Honors Modern World History
College Test Prep(SAT/ACT prep; required in our school)
Technological Innovations(Advanced Technology)
Symphonic Band
Resource

Senior(this upcoming year): Honors English 12(last year, Honors English 11 and 12 was eliminated to get more kids into AP. They put them back when they saw that over 3/4 of the test takers failed AP Lang or AP Lit, myself included. lol)
AP Statistics(either this or AP Calc. There is no math higher than that, and it's not productive to take a class so similar to Honors Calculus. It's just faster paced, and a few more new things. Not worth it.)
AP Psychology
Child Development
PE(filler class, easy A, opportunity for exercise)
Symphonic Band
Resource

I wanted to take AP Physics, AP Music Theory, and Net Games PE, but not enough people signed up for these classes. :(

SATs!(taken last June)
560 CR(Not too good a reader. I'm happy with this)
740 M(Very happy with this. Math is my strong subject)
600 W. 61 MC, 8 essay. Not bad, but not satisfied.

Extracurriculars:
Varsity Cross Country(Grade 9 and 11. Injured Grade 10, Not running this year because of Marching Band, heavier courseload, and student teaching, more on this later)
Comedy Club. I write and perform scripted comedy skits. I'm a published author, and we performed at the Capitol Fringe Festival last year.
Marching Band, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band. I play the French Horn. This fall, I will be the Drum Major of the Marching band. The drum major is the guy who conducts the band and leads the marches. I won Outstanding Sophomore, Outstanding Junior, and Outstanding Marcher, which are awards voted on by my peers.
I'm a Boy Scout. Currently, I'm a Life Scout, which is one rank behind Eagle, the highest honor in Scouting. I'm a few merit badges and a service project away from this award.
You may have noticed that I'm short a class in my senior year courseload. This is because this is being taken up by my student-teaching job at my middle school. Teachers there were ecstatic when they found out that I was returning; they LOVED me. Unfortunately, because of this, college apps, maybe an SAT retake, and the fact that running XC demoralizes me after every practice(if you haven't done XC before, then YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW PAINFUL IT IS.), I will not run XC this year(will this hurt my chances at universities?)

I have yet to take care of teacher recommendations, but I'm hoping to get some.
I have 210 community service hours, hopefully I can get an award for getting 260 before I graduate.

I'd like you all to look over this and tell me what schools I'd be happiest at. Cost isn't that much of an issue, but in-state tuition is ideal. I also don't want to be too far away from home(I live in Maryland; and the MD-DC border is 4 miles away from my home). My college plan is to major in Math, do graduate work in Education, and become a middle school teacher, high school teacher, or college professor in Math. I'm also autistic, so try to find schools where I'd be most comfortable. Here are some schools that I'd like to apply to, I'd appreciate it if you chanced me for each, or if applying to them is a bad idea.

Towson University
Salisbury University
UMBC
University of Maryland, College Park(top choice, but may be tough to get in)
Temple University
Penn State University
University of Delaware

And please, I'd appreciate it if you didn't just "troll" on this thread and instead be constructive and supportive. College Confidential has a nasty reputation of having perfectionists attack people who have less than fantastic credentials, and I've seen these posts myself. I understand I'm well below the average of people who use this site. Don't say anything along the lines of:

"3.38? YOU SUCK AS GO TO COMMUNITY COLLEGE"
"A 2 on the AP Lang exam? A 2 ON THE AP LANG EXAM!?!? Dude, you're the biggest r***d I have ever seen. Ever. Wrong site, buddy."
"Only 3 APs in a 4 year period? You're not challenging yourself. No chance whatsoever."
"So you're a runner, eh? Why not run to the nearest McDonald's, where you can actually get a job and not get too skinny either." (Heartfelt apologies to people who actually work at McDonald's.)

Thank you very much for your time and consideration, and I wish the best of luck to those in similar situations.

I think you’ll be able to get into UMD, Temple and Penn State. I don’t know a lot about the other schools. Have you considered smaller schools? Big schools like UMD can be a bit much unless you’re a “rah-rah” big school type, I think.
Georgetown and George Washington aren’t super far and I think you could get in.

Good luck!

Could you help me? I have basically the same question: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/1192655-where-should-i-apply.html

The other schools that you “don’t know much about” are significantly smaller than UMD and my other “big school” choices. I’d be happy in schools of any size, but I don’t mind the atmosphere of huge schools too much.

HAHAHA

Please accept my friend request <333

But yeah, I just checked my school’s Naviance - PSU and UMCP seems possible for you based on who got in from my school, so keep your hopes up.

Same. Good luck to you and your band, and please, PLEASE be expressive when you conduct. Don’t be one of those boring kids who only conduct in a 4/4 pattern without showing emotion/cues/passion/etc.

Thanks! I’m a trained Drum Major; I attended the Drum Major Academy at West Chester University in 2010, so I know how to add expression and such and I will make sure to, insert some strange accent as thou dictates.

This post is to make this thread more visible… “bumping” is what it’s called, I believe…

Yet another bump… can I get any more suggestions?

Yet another bump…

Temple sounds like a good bet. My D has a friend there. Her GPA was not as high as yours and she did not take any honors or AP courses in HS (neither did my D). I don’t think her boards were that great either. She loves it there and is an education major.

Congrats on Drum Major. That’s quite an honor.

I went to high school in MD as well. From my school, your stats are a little lower than the students who got into UMD, but you seem about on with Towson, Salisbury, Delaware. Towson is known for its education program, so it’d certainly be a good fit in that respect if you wanted to double major in math and education. Another school in the general MD area (its in Virginia, but not too faraway) is JMU; I know they have an education program as well, and its a very pretty location. One issue is that while advanced tech (engineering) can replace foreign language for high school graduation, a lot of colleges still like to see foreign language study. You might want to ask your counselor to emphasize in his/her rec that the engineering classes made fitting a foreign language into your schedule difficult.

Take a look at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, the public LAC. It’s a beautiful campus on the Chesapeake river with strong academics - your upward trending GPA may help to get your freshman year discounted. The small class size also means that you won’t slip under the faculty’s radar - you can get the mentoring and advising that will help you accomplish your goals. They may also have academic support for students with special needs like yours.

Lmao @ the way you made fun of yourself. Dont sell yourself short your EC’s stick out and your scores are good enough to give yourself a high chance of acceptance to the schools you are interested in.

P.S. - We also have similiar SAT scores
June -
M 740
R 600
W 660

Bumping for more suggestions.

You’re missing a few of the staples for your stats:
Boston University, Northeastern University, Fordham University, Syracuse University, Virginia Tech

I posted schools that I’m most interested in applying to(I prefer to be close to home, and the lower the cost the better, but that’s not THAT much of an issue.). I’m just looking for others that would be appropriate for me, or reasons why I shouldn’t.

Thank you for your suggestions!

Bumping for more suggestions!

I think your background is unusual, and your ability to thrive despite some challenges is impressive. I think you have a strong chance for admission to all of the colleges on your list. How about Loyola in Baltimore, as well?
