We received an invite for Explore Georgia also. We picked June 18th. We did the regular tour and admission session before we got the invite but my D liked it so much she wants to go back for this one since it is much more detailed.

Do you have any idea of what the criteria is for this, instate, OOS, year in H.S., etc? It looks like a good way to get exposure to UGA. We are signed up for the tour, info session and honors info session.

I don’t know what the requirements are but I am assuming its rising seniors. My D will be a senior and she also got the GA Merit Award which is only for instate juniors who are in the top 10% of their class, so that may have been the criteria. She has not sent transcript so it can’t be grades. But a co-worker whose daughter also got GA Merit did not get the explore GA invite but she hasn’t taken SAT or ACT. So may have been combination of things. You should ask on the UGA Admission blog.

Our D has sent SAT scores to UGA the two times she’s taken it. She hasn’t sent anything from the school. We go tomorrow afternoon and will stay overnight then attend Friday morning. We attended something similar at Auburn in the Spring so right now it’s a toss up.

Just following up on what was your impression of Explore Georgia? What did you think? My husband went with D so I don’t have first hand knowledge but they both seemed to like and UGA is still being considered/

compared to other tours it was ok. nothing great but more than the regular, book online tour. Might have been better in the Fall instead of late June. Hot. few students.

Gamomof2 & Gamomof3: You might also want to consider a fall visit in addition to the summer visit. It is a much different feel during the regualr school session. My daughter will be a freshman in the fall. Last fall she was invited to a Scholars Visitation Day (itinerary looks very similar to what you posted above). She found it to be interesting and motivational. I will say they did spend a lot of time promoting the Foundation Fellows/Ramsay Scholars, which are amazing opportunities.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

We are planning a weekend visit this fall with someone who is a student. I am thinking that will give more of the every day experience.
