any suggestions on good colleges?
right now, my list looks like:

Dream reaches:
Tufts
Rice
Emory

Slight reaches/high matches:
Mcgill
UofT

Matches:
U of Roch
PSU Shreyers H college

Safeties:
Rutgers

yea, so can anyone evaluate my chances and/or any other colleges?
thanks in advance

bumpity bump bump bump

All of your schools are realistic.

any other suggestions?
i mean, not just my chances but other colleges...

PSU Screyer Honors College should totally not be considered a match...it's pretty hard to get into and i've known some people with scores in the low 1500's to not get in (ofcourse SAT isn't all that counts), but especially b/c you're out of state you shouldn't count it as a match.

What are you planning to major in? How about Johns Hopkins University or University of Chicago?

mm..i dunno but i think that its probably going to be a science

Might want to add some match schools like Colgate or Holy Cross. HC has better location than Colgate-1 hour from Boston.

I think you'll get into all ur colleges on the above list

thanks for the college suggestions, but i think JHU and UChic might be far reaches for me
i dunno about colgate or HC though, ive done minimal research on LAC's because my friends say that you sometimes dont have enough resources

retake SAT to up writing, retake (and take more) SAT II's, and you have a moderately decent shot at Rice.

even though my gpa is so low?
and my ec's are moderate at best?

i honestly think you could get into any of those schools
just SHOW the schools that you belong there.
college apps are about selling yourself
and if you can't express the person that you are in that one essay THEN FORGET IT.
im just being honest
bring up sat ii scores and i honestly think that ull get into those schools
i had a friend that got into rice with a 1400/3.5 uw / 2 extra currics [ dance and something else which she was amazingly good at ]
trust me for every person who scores a perfect score..there has to be someone below avg..so you're in between =D youll be fine
just work on the essay and sell yourself to the best of your ability..remember they never get to know you "in person" really..an interview doesnt last very long

good luckk

btw i live in jersey too..i go to JP ..how about u?

Tufts isn't really a reach i think..you should def get into there

heh...lets just say my town is kinda notorious now in NJ due to recent events

You could look at Cornell. However, you seem to be targetting mid-sized urban universities. Your SAT scores are pretty high for U Chicago, so I thought of it. What about Vanderbilt?

well...sorta
i kinda want a smaller school, but, as you can see, ive targeted some big universities too
my main reasoning is that i might have a more centralized and personal experience at mid-sized schools, but i might also like some of the assets that big univ. provide
and for the canadian schools, well, im a canadian citizen, so the price is hard to beat

you are not getting into Cornell with that GPA

bump?
any other suggestions?
