Suggestions on hours per week

I am doing the Business Administration- General Studies degree and my suggested outline online says that I should take 15 hours a week. I think that that course load sounds do-able. However, my parents are convinced that 15 hours is a weak load and that I need to be doing 17-18 hours a week. I told them that I wont make a decision until I talk to actual students who know what UF courses are like.

That being said, what do you guys suggest I take. I am not taking any 'easy' classes (that I know of) so I know that all my classes will require a good deal of studying.
What are you guys taking and what do you recommend?
Thank you!

I think 15 hours is more than enough. 17-18 is pushing it and you definitely don't want to start out taking that many hours. Wait until you get used to studying at the college level and then move up to 17-18, if need be. But I think 15 is enough. In fact, most people take 12-13, so you have an above average schedule already. I would keep it.

Thanks. My parents dont really get it. Everyone I have talked to has said that going over 15 is crazy, but they dont believe me.

I think 15 credit hours is good load to take, especially if you're just going to be starting this Fall. College level courses can take a little to get used to, especially all the studying. I took 12 credits my first semester, and 14 in the Spring, so usually most students just slowly increase their workload. I'm going to be taking 17 credits this Fall since I changed my major and I KNOW I'm going to be busy all the time.

Maybe your parents are on the UMiami credit system, where people take 18-20 credits but it would be more like 14-15 at UF.

Yea, you don't want to be in a stressful academic situation right from your first semester. Explain to your parents that you want to start off well and get adjusted to the system. There's no need to kill yourself with a 17 credit load, trust me, you will be busy with 15. That's the a heavy load in itself. You will notice that most of the people around you are taking 12-13. So I really suggest you keep your schedule the way it is.
