Suggestions on MISM

My Qualifications:
-Computer Engineering Bachelor's,Overall GPA is poor. 54% in Indian terms. Passed second class. In the final year I did better though, 70%. On a 4 scale, GPA would come to 2.16 right? But I think my GPA is more towards 3.0+. Confused there.

I have lead a few projects,am a certified PMP from PMI,green belt in six sigma and SCJP.

I am going through my last semester of my correspondence MBA(distance). I did this in finance because I have trouble understanding their concepts when working on finance modules. My MBA has gone well. 'A' grade till now.

GRE score Q-780. V-740. AWA - 5.0.

What are my chances at the MISM at CMU, especially the one year program?

Am I aiming too high there? What are masters programs in Information systems Mgmt that I should aiming for given my shady past?

After my masters I would like to pursue a doctorate in management. CMU's course is pretty much poised for the industry and not for academia. And I would like to put time into masters and not go straight for a PhD

After working for a while, your college grades matter less.
For the MISM program, you need to show a “passion for the application of technology in business.”
The one year program is focused towards job placement. This might not be what you’re looking for.
Also, the complete MISM program costs about $75k. They do not offer financial aid. Are you fine with that?

Overall, if you’re able to pull off the passion thing, I think your chances are good.

your GRE stat, especially your verbal will definitiv make up for your low GPA. No one can guarantee you a spot but I would definitiv give it a try.

Course requirements for the one year program and the 16 months program are identical. In fact, both are three “semester” programs since for the one year program, you are completing your first semester in the summer. The only thing you are missing out is the required summer internship for the 16 months program. However, since you are planning to go into docorate anyway, I guess the internship isn’t that important.

FYI the above poster mentioned no financial aid. That’s incorrect. I’m in MSISPM which is closely related to MISM (same school and even same program director). Got half fare (pure scholarship, no TA requirement). I know at least one MISM student that got scholarship too.
I have a feeling they are handing out a lot more money (including full fare) for the public policy students but there are fundings on the ISM side too.
