Suggestions on studying?

I can’t seem to get 100s on my test anymore in science, I just got a 28/30 on this test and my last test I received a 50/55. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, this is going to bring my science grade to a 95%. Science is my favorite subject so I’m just getting worried about these test scores, I studied for 6 days and still missed 2 points! Any suggestions on studying would be appreciated I’ll be in highschool in next year and if I can’t get high As on middle school classes how am I going to handle honors biology next year, should I just take regular bio since I’ll probably get a 95% this quarter?

You’re fine, Honors bio isn’t a really big deal.

Are you sure? This is just middle school science, I’m starting to think I should just take regular bio freshman year. Last quarter I received close to a 96% in 8th grade science.

I got an A- in 8th grade science because my teacher was, to put it politely, a dimwit, and I’m in honors bio now and have an A+ with the hardest teacher at my school, so you’ll do fine

My daughter was averaging about 94% in regular high school classes. She moved to honors classes and got about 94%. She then (junior and senior years) moved to AP classes and got about 94%. Now in university she is still doing about the same. Her unweighted GPA didn’t change at all, but her weighted GPA went up quite a bit through the 4 years of high school.

Understanding a large complex set of issues; being able to solve difficult math problems; and being able to be absolutely perfect in a test; are pretty much separate independent skills (although the “being perfect on a test” part doesn’t come into play unless you also know the material).

Obviously folks on CC can’t guarantee how you will do in honors science classes. However, my suggestion is to go ahead and give honors a try with the expectation that you will do very well (and probably still get 95% at the end of the day).

You might also think about study skills. I have seen students have a tutor help them with study skills, and improve significantly with only a very small number of tutoring sessions after school. The time that you spend studying might (or might not) become more effective used with a bit of tutoring in this area.

You have an A. Please don’t stress out over every few points… And you’re only in middle school. I’m not trying to be mean, but don’t destroy yourself and stress over small things like this in high school and hate the next 4 years of your life.

Take honors bio.

@kabasi Okay, thank you!

@DadTwoGirls Thank you, i hope you’re right! I’ll try tutoring maybe and take honors bio.

One thing that I should add: The honors classes, and particularly the AP classes, were somewhat more work than the regular “CP” high school classes. However, my daughter rose to the occasion and I expect that you will also.
