hey. I have a tentative list of schools that i'm applying to transfer to for fall 06. but, i would like to know, given my stats and other info, where you think i should apply.

right, so, here:

white male from northern nj, middle class. blahblah.
h.s. GPA 2.9
SATs: 1050
a few ecs, soup kitchens, couple jv sports. typical garbage h.s. record.

college:

major: political science (as of right now, i'm conidering another in addition--economics, finance, idk--and a minor)
gpa: 3.68 fall, i know it will not be seen, but, it should be higher in the spring
ecs: pre-law society, against drunk driving club, deans list
good rec. letters, i believe

Basically, I go to a podunk, "ttt" (literally), lac in PA. I absolutely despise every aspect of it: socially, academically, opportunities, etc. (the list goes on) I'm looking for a school closer to home; however, if i find a college conducive to my needs, depending on the distance--i'd say about 2-3ish hours away at most--i would definitely consider. I would, ideally, like to be in a school in or near manhattan but that is not necessarily a requirement. I am ultimately hoping to go to law school so that is a focal point. Size wise, really doesn't matter too much. I could enjoy an enormous school in manhattan; likewise, a smaller school in upstate ny. feel free to ask more questions about what i am looking for as i provided very little here. thanks in advance. ;o

first off, what school do you attend at the moment, since that plays into transferring.

oh, are you sure it does? oh well, i doubt you've heard of it: saint vincent college

the only schools i'd recommend are rutgers-newark and rutgers-camden, and if you are considering going to law school, i would suggest rutgers-camden. their political science dept is great, and you can do an accelerated program for that jd and it's located in south jersey, 5 minutes from philadelphia.

if i were you, id try to stick it out for another year with the same type of cumulative gpa. therefore you can have better options when it comes time to transfer. i agree that rutgers might be one of the only choices you have, aside from suny schools like albany and maybe binghamton.

one would have to be a nut to go to camden. it's the worst city in the country. staying here another year is definitely not an option. oh well, i'll figure something out.

that's what they say in the news, but the camden campus at rutgers is great. it's not dangerous at all because it is in the business district, and the campus is ongoing several new projects including a brand new residence hall, new fitness center, and new law school. i attended for a year and a couple of my friends are there right now and it is a very nice campus.
