Home State? How much can you and your family afford? Small/Large/Urban/Rural? LAC/Public?
What schools were on your original list and what did you not like about these schools?

@Gumbymom I’m from PA. If the costs weren’t $65,000/year that would be great but I mean I don’t want to eliminate any schools because of the price. As for size, I tend to like the medium and large schools, nothing too small. I’ve liked more of the LACs that I’ve visited, like Villanova and Lehigh, but I also like Penn State so I don’t really have a preference for LAC/Public. I’m willing to go kinda far, but no more than like a 6 hour drive. My list consists of Lehigh, Villanova, Penn State, Pitt, Boston U, Maryland, Bucknell, UVA, Carnegie Mellon (reach), and George Washington. It’s not that I didn’t like any of these schools, I just wasn’t absolutely in love with any of them and am looking to find that school that I absolutely love. I really liked Villanova but their math program isn’t as great as like Penn State or Carnegie Mellon’s. Also, a few of the schools on my list don’t have an Applied Math major and I’d rather go the applied math route than pure mathematics

Edit: I guess what I didn’t like about some of them was that most of them had like a major or majors they were known for, none of which were math (although not many schools are known for their math programs I guess?). Like Villanova is business, and Lehigh is engineering. I just want a school with a really good math program.

Bumppppp

Bumpppp :-S

You might consider looking at NYU, it’s got a really good Applied Mathematics program, but it is pretty expensive.

@Murph2244 thank you for your input!

Unfortunately, most people do have to eliminate schools because of the price. Sounds like you need to sit down with your parents and ask how much they can afford, and then run the net price calculators on the schools you’re interested in to see how much your parents will be expected to pay.
