Ok, I want a school with a very intellectual student body. Learning for the sake of learning and all that. However I do not want a teeny student body, I think 5000 undergrads is about as small as I want to go. I really want to go to school on the east coast, New Jersey, PA, MD, and VA preferably. I would like to major in History and Political Science and I want to dance in college as well. As I already have my reaches and safety's I was wondering if you could suggest matches (I have a 3.8 GPA, 1840 SATS,taking the ACT though, and should do better and fairly good EC's). Thanks.

what about GW?

Take a look at Smith College. It has great academics, intellectual student body, wonderful mentoring, and a strong sense of community. Smith is part of a 5-college consortium (with Amherst, Hampshire, Mt. Holyoke and Univ Mass). You can take classes at any, and there is a free shuttle bus to get to classes and activities at the other campuses.

Smith has good financial aid and merit scholarships. Also, Smith no longer requires SAT or ACT scores for US applicants.

BUMP
10 Char.

If you improve your test scores, you could shoot for some more difficult schools to get into (College of William & Mary, UVA, UNC-CH). That being said, with your SATs as they currently stand, here are some more suggestions...

SEMI-REACH: George Washington University (DC), University of Rochester (NY), Wake Forest University (NC), University of Maryland - College Park (MD)*
GOOD FIT: Elon University (NC), Fordham University (NY), Villanova University (PA), The College of New Jersey (NJ)*, American University (DC)

*Please keep in mind that state schools will be significantly easier to get into if you happen to be an in-state student.

Goucher and Gettysburg may be good.

James Madison University, American University, and if you would go into New England, then Northeastern University, Boston University
