Suggestions?

Hey,
I'm gonna be heading over to NY to help my sister take care of her kids since she jsut had a daughter and i was thinking that while i'm there, i might as well visit Columbia. However, what exactly should i do to let them know that i was there? So for now, i can only think of a college tour and maybe stopping in their admissions to "fill out a form" (according to one friend who said i could do that), but isn't there somethign more i coudl do? I thought about just chatting with students, stopping by in classes but how would Columbia know any of this? Oh yeah, i'm currently in CA. Thanx

If you're going just to "let them know that i was there," don't bother. You're not going to get in to Columbia because you filled out a form. You should do things to help you learn about the school and figure out if you want to go there (and why). Go talk around campus on your own. Talk to the kiddies there. Sit in on a class. Have lunch in one of the "restaurants" and meet some students there. Try to meet with a professor.

Aside from the fact that Columbia2002's suggestions might help you decide if Columbia is the school for you (or not), if you do manage to get an interview, your knowledge of the school (and the fact that you did your "homework") should make for an impressive interview.
