This is a strange question .... is there any reason that my son would need a suit? He is not rushing. Are there any other events that would require a student to dress up?

job fairs, interviews for scholarships, study abroad programs, or internships, etc.? it might be nice just to have one around..

I think it's good to have anything that you'd consider "business casual." No tux or anything, but yeah. It stinks to not have that around.

While he might not rush, that doesn't mean he will not be invited to escort a girl to a sorority formal. I remember having to send my son his tux one year for a formal at another school. While I hated to have his suit sit in his smelly closet for the year, I also didn't want to have to ship again. If it is no big deal, go ahead and send it, but maybe keep it in a suit bag or something.

Great omfp - thank you for responding!

Having a suit or navy blazer and slacks is a good idea even if he has no plans to rush. snowball makes a good point in that he might be asked to escort someone to a formal, and crazy as it sounds, I know my S attended several parties through the years that friends threw where they decided to 'dress up" for the occasion.

Yeah, I'd recommend at least a jacket + khakis.
