suitcase school

Hello,

Is Muhlenberg considered to be a suitcase school, where the student body returns home for the weekend?
Thanks

My daughter is a freshman at Muhlenberg. The vast majority of students stay on campus on weekends. While it’s not a big party school there seems to always be something for her and her friends to do. She is not a theater major btw. She is very happy there.

I went to a school that was considered a suitcase school. Muhlenberg is nothing like that at all. There’s always so much to do on the weekends that kids don’t typically go home unless they have a job at home they can continue on the weekends, or for some similar reason.

If you have a son who is very involved in sports, likes to be with people but is not a big “partier”, do you feel there is enough to do at Muhlenberg. He is a bit concerned that theatre seems to have a very big influence and the campus was relatively small. He is a business major. Thanks!

What do you mean by very involved in sports? Will he be playing sports at Muhlenberg? Or is he a spectator? Please clarify.

There is a good chance he would be playing, plus he likes to support the teams at his school.
Thanks!

I think anytime you are involved in a sport, even at the D3 level, that alone will keep you plenty busy. Although my daughter is not a college sports fan, we have sort of paid attention to the various teams at Muhlenberg, and the football team in particular has had some good success. They have a beautiful state-of-the art fitness facility that I truly envy.

Thanks very much. I appreciate it.

My son has never come home on a weekend and we are only a few hours away from Muhlenberg. Last semester he stayed three days AFTER his last final so he could relax and hang out with friends. Not a suitcase school.

Our freshman student has only been home for one weekend outside of winter break. Always busy. Always something to do, BUT, (that something usually involves schoolwork too) don’t expect raging parties. Especially since our student plays sports at 'Berg - weekends are full. Great gym, great programs. Be sure to visit and ask the students you meet this same question.
