suitemates

Does anyone know a way to find out who the suite-mates are - specifically wildwood, outside of posting room number on FB and seeing if anyone responds with 2 numbers above or below? assuming odd numbers on one side of hallway, evens on the other...

As I recall your student is notified weeks ahead as to the names, addresses and phone numbers of the suite mates. This is to allow coordination and better early communication. My daughters contacted their roomies early on and discovered that many were from the same area we are from.

I would not put the info on FB unless you really have the privacy settings down tight.

No, I wasn’t planning on putting on FB - I checked with housing, and they said they would not be giving out that information. We have known actual roommate since June, but not who share the other side. - Oh well - guess we’ll have to wait until move-in…

When my daughter was in Landis 2 years ago, we had to wait until move-in to meet her suite mates. FSU only provided roommate info then. We decided to buy a shower curtain, rings, rug, etc. and I just kept the receipt. Her suite mates had furnished the bathroom by the time we got there, and Target took everything back when I got home :)

I do have some rugs I plan to bring(boys don’t typically care about color matching, etc. LOL -at least not mine), but wasn’t sure about the shower curtain… will decide last minute and keep receipt as you said. Thanks.

Yeah, FSU’s not keen on releasing suite-mate information. I can kind of understand it, but at the same time they really should include it, in my opinion.

It’s best to plan on no one having brought anything- shower curtain, hooks, bathmat, rug, whatever, just in case no one actually has. Worst case scenario you end up returning it to Target/Walmart/etc, although I personally would recommend that if you end up not needing the items right away, that you have your student keep them as a backup. You never how when a shower curtain might rip (especially if you are using hooks, and don’t have one with built-in holders/whatever the “technical” term is), or when someone will realize that the curtain’s nasty and needs replacing, etc.

My son was the only one who came with a shower curtain and rings. I would have that because you need them. I would go get the longer shower stall liner now. I think I got the last one at Target. Walmart has them, too. they are a little long but you can cut the bottom. the usual ones are wider and shorter and don’t work as well. Even if someone already has a liner, it will probably be a good idea to change it out after the first semester as I imagine it may get a lot of soap scum on it.
