I applied to SuMAC, a math program at Stanford over the summer, and I was just wondering if anyone knows when acceptance letters are sent out?

Also, if anyone has ever been to the program, have most people at the program completed calculus? I've had all A's in the hardest math courses offered at my school, and got a 36 on the math section of the act, but I haven't gotten to calculus yet. Will this affect my chances of getting accepted?

As long as you’re applying to Program I, not having calculus will not be a problem. There are plenty of people there who haven’t, and it really doesn’t matter at the camp itself who has and who hasn’t studied it. As far as admissions go, I think your answers to the problems on the application matter a lot more than what classes you’ve had.

I don’t know when acceptances will go out, unfortunately.

Last year, I think the ratio for the number of people in Program 1 to Program 2 was about 2 to 1 (so about 25 Program 1, 12 Program 2 cause there were 37 of us).
And the website says there’s about a 1/3 acceptance rate each year which is fairly selective (and its probably gotten lower over the years as more people find out about it and apply).

My D got waitlisted for Program I Congrats to all who were accepted!

Best swimmer: what’s your point about comparing this program to Ross and Promys, based on your friend’s comments? Clearly the people who responded to the OP’s thread have defined their interest in SUMaC, and presumably have considered Ross, Promys and others.

To give you a range, JunsLee, last year there was one student who had previously attended MOP (and I think PROMYS as well), as well as several who as far as I know had never participated in contests at all.
