Summary of Fall Program for Freshmen CALSO

i couldn't attend FPF CALSO due to financial reasons. please give me a summay of what i missed out on? also, please tell me any important information.

thanks
~sonic pwr

All you really need from FPF is your advisor code to register for classes. I think everything else at my Calso (I'm a transfer) was a bit unecessary and or redundant.

FPF students do not register for classes through telebears. There is no advisor code.

oooh my bad...

didnt miss anything......ALL icebreakers....dont worry about anything

The dance focking sucked, and I didn't know where KDR was, so my night was screwed.

ya it shouldnt even be called a dance....i think only the counselors were having fun or pretending to have fun.

I thought the dance was okay. You must have went there early when not that many people came.

It was mostly getting to know the University and meeting some people. Some good information but nothing essential. So, while it's too bad that you missed it, it probably doesn't matter in the long run.

Pretty much.

This is the CalSO for fall admits.

Cal emphasized that you complete the "Academic Orienteering" website for the College of Letters and Science before coming to CalSO. It outlined the requirements to get a B.A. in the College of L&S and was very helpful. I'm looking at the itinerary right now for CalSO and I'll list the major events of the two days:

Day 1

Opening Address from the Chancellor

Meeting with student counselor (logistical)

Presentation from L&S advisors (this complemented the "Academic Orienteering" website)

Introduction to the Student Learning Center (SLC)

Meeting with L&S advisors to discuss first semester schedule

Option of going to two of the following events: Haas School of Business, Financial Aid, getting involved, education abroad, student learning center.

Presentations on safety (University Police - emphasized that you should program the University Police phone number into your cell phone, which goes directly to their dispatchers) and health (Tang Center and Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) )

Three students shared their experiences as freshmen

Discussion forums

Day 2:

Signing up for classes, tour of the campus, and getting your student ID/Cal 1 card

I enjoyed the program. You got a lot of information. I'd suggest looking into some of the stuff from the schedule if you are unsure about it. I'm pretty sure its all on the Cal website. Good luck!
