Summer 2005

What is everyone doing this summer?

Working, lol. I just got a job at a technology solutions firm. I'm not exactly sure what they expect me to do, but I guess I'll have to manage servers and do networking stuff. It pays more than Albertsons or Walmart, and it sure as heck is a lot more exciting.

I'm at UT Southwestern Medical center in Dallas, TX doing oncology research

i really need to find a job!!!!

We just had our graduation today. Finally, w00t! (I'm celebrating with my 100th post. It only took me six months.) I'm going to thoroughly enjoy my weekend and then it's time to find a job :-| Probably going to be typing/office work, I'm trying to avoid retail. I like money, but I'm not sure I like it enough to be chipper for hours on end.

I suppose there's always filling out scholarships 30 hrs/wk...

I'm going to sleep.

Well, there is a bank internship that I could get into... but I'm so lazy!!!

nkay, shouldn't you be studying for your impending A-Levels?

Sleep sounds good...

I'll be working on a website and a research project and possibly helping my HS to organize an AP CS class. Oh, and lots and lots of DDR (actually, more like 15 min a day, but that's a lot for me...) :p

...sleep......what's that? sounds like a dream...

I'll be avoiding my parents who will be constantly nagging me, playing around with my laptop if i ever get up the energy to get it, planning for stanford, hopefully losing weight (despite the fact that i've pledged this every summer for years now and it has yet to happen), possibly getting a job, i would like to redecorate my room...

Don't know what else. Probably family visits and some vacation as well.

oh yeah, and sleep :) and read for fun!

After my A levels, I meant :D I finish on the 30th of June though cries I'm sick of exams. I just want to sleep without worrying about maths and biology.

I'm...

Learning to cook -- challah, pasta and pizza from scratch, and lemon meringue pie are my next targets

Relearning my biking skills -- summer after sophomore year I spent at Davis and got so good I could turn corners with no hands, but then I didn't bike again ever...so I need to get my talents back!

Improving my CD collection -- With increased free time comes more time to acquire money, and then research music on which to spend that money, and then make mixtapeCDs for those without the time to spend doing such things, or with those with the time to spend doing said things.

Passing on necessary skills to next year's leadership team and membership of my favorite club ever (so teaching 'em to video edit and stuff)

Taking lots and lots of long walks with my mom

Teaching my little sister math

Spending time with my friends -- watching movies, shopping, cooking, hiking, acquiring Indian dancing skills, having tea parties, whaaaatever

SLEEPING

READING. a LOT. and EVERYTHING.

Getting back into the violin

Exploring Palo Alto (seeing as how I only live a few hours away)

...yeah, I think that'll about do it for me :)

I retired this year from video games but it seems like the right time to go out and buy an xbox with HALO 2. All my friends have it so i might as well get it to if only for the summer. Other than that i'm gonna work, work, and sleep. Or i could do what i did last year....eat, sh!t, and sleep for almost 3 months.

retire from video games? dude, never. :) i'll be reading my butt off... haven't done enough of it. last minute uni shopping. also want to beat devil may cry 3 - the cut scenes are funnnny. :) ooh, and i wanna get star wars jedi academy. i am SUCH a dork. -__-"

oh yeah. find some job or something. and read harry potter! oh, and catch up on much needed lazing around and sleeping. w00t.

Those all sound like really good summer plans :) Especially sleeping and reading.

I'm mostly hanging out with friends, being really really lazy and eating A LOT. Looking for a job too, but so far it's an unsuccessful search. All the stores want people who are going to be in town for more than three months! Once you tell them you only want a summer job, they immediately turn on you. Ah well ^_^

Exactly what has been happening to me, Deepdown. It's been difficult finding employment--I'm still looking.

I'm supposed to be enrolling in an inorganic chem class on Monday (never took AP Chem because the school doesn't offer it, so I'm taking this so I can test into Chem 31X), but if it doesn't work out, i'm going to look for either a research position or intern at a public health firm.

Then in August, going back to Vietnam to volunteer in rural health clinics and underfunded children's hospital.

How do you get to volunteer in vietnam?

My cousin is a professor in a medical school at Vietnam, so she has a lot of connections.
