Summer 2012 appeal?

Judging from the replies I got here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-washington/1290153-chance-me-uw-summer-2012-4-year-4-year.html

I'm not getting in for summer 2012. I have to try to appeal. I will have my essay ready for when the rejection letter comes -sigh-

Any advice, statistics, thoughts for writing an appeal? How does appeal work at udub? All my information is in my previous thread.

You do not have to wait for a rejection for an appeal. (edit: well I’m a transfer student and I know we don’t have to wait. I don’t know if there are different rules for new students. Read through the link below)

I wanted to make sure I got in so bad that I filed an appeal the same time I applied.

(And yes I got it…but they didn’t tell me whether it was based off of the appeal or whether I would gotten in w/out it)

[Guidelines for Special Admission and Appeal | University of Washington](http://admit.washington.edu/Admission/Applied/Appeal)

What did you write about in the appeal letter, any recommendations?

Also what does everyone think about Letters of rec?

Letters of recommendation do not hurt.

My friend successfully appealed his rejection (no, not even a waitlist!) two years ago. He was a freshman applicant.

I actually don’t know too much in regards to appeals but don’t go regurgitating stuff that you already mentioned before as you would have gotten rejected because of it. Make sure you have something new and meaningful to add that you haven’t sent them before. Anyways, hopefully it doesn’t come to that case and wish you the best of luck in getting into UW.

speedslver, what did your friend write about? Did he have a particular circumstance or anything like that?

On Raamzic’s comment: Make sure you have something new and meaningful to add that you haven’t sent them before.

^Soo important.

My friend didn’t have any particular circumstances … to be honest, I think he got rejected because he was lazy and half-heartedly wrote his essays since he was so sure he’d get in (great stats).

The quality of his essay drastically improved (I helped read over his drafts). There was more … “life” in it and his personality took over the paper. I guess this was one of those situations where the only thing keeping him from being accepted in the first place was his “I don’t give a <bleep!>” attitude in his essays.</bleep!>
