Summer 2012 Transfers

Starting the thread as I didn't see one already.

I just recently applied for summer, and I have no idea when I may hear back from FSU. My intended major is dietetics upper-division (limited access this term for the first time).

Any other applicants? :)

I applied for Summer as well and am planning to major in History.
I hope we find out soon, so tired of all this waiting and anxiety.

Just checked my Status and I got in for Summer term. Yay

Congratulations! Welcome aboard.

Congrats! I would be interested in your stats because I honestly have no idea what FSU does and does not admit. I was denied at UF with a 3.77 and A.A after applying to the same nutrition major. It was not limited access there even. Have since found out quite a few things about UF (like new block tuition for all)and am glad for their choice.

Again congratulations! :)

Thanks guys!

My stats at my CC were 2.9-3.0 GPA, with over 60 Credits, no EC’s or any interesting hooks. I started horribly as a P/T student and recently brought up my grades and out of academic probation taking 15-18 credits a term which brought my GPA up. I was shocked that they accepted me to be honest.
Once they reviewed everything: the requirements for foreign language and for writing/math/reading and all that it finally was sent to be reviewed to the appropriate admissions people and I got a respons in a little over a week.

FSU is incredibly easy to get into as a transfer for any major that is not a limited access program. UF on the other hand is quite difficult, I was denied acceptance fairly quickly because it’s so competitive.
I’m honestly surprised you didn’t get into UF w/ a 3.77 GPA and for a major that isn’t even limited access.

I don’t think you’ll have any problems getting into FSU, as you have a great GPA and it’s not limited access as well.

When did you apply, have your fall transcripts in?

Applied in august, got my transcript in over winter break and the school says it can still take an additional 4-6 weeks from here.

I applied in mid-December and they received my HS and CC transcripts during the 1st or 2nd week of January. Then they sent it to be reviewed on the 13th of February.

Sent to be reviewed at the college of your major?

I applied in December for Summer 2012 with 60 credits, my AA and a 3.4. Applied for Computer Criminology, not limited access. Haven’t heard anything but to wait 4-6 weeks, twice :/

Could someone post a screenshot of what this status page looks like once accepted, I’m getting tired of checking everyday and seeing the same untouched page :/

This is what it will look like:

It said something about admissions reviewed it and that it was being referred to appropriate academic representative for review.

You’ll eventually receive an email notifying you that “a decision has been rendered,” or something like that. However, the email may not arrive until 24-48 hours after the admissions status page is updated.

Thanks for the info, papertiger87. The nutrition major at FSU will be limited access, unlike UF’s, which makes me pretty nervous considering I wasn’t accepted at UF. Still…something does seem ‘off’ with UF admissions…I have seen others on this forum get accepted with a 3.0 or 3.2 no problem. Makes me wonder if something isn’t random there…doesn’t really matter- wasn’t the school for me!
Another reason not to attend: UF’s president was recently quoted as saying that he would like to raise the tuition significantly because of ‘the quality of education’ [at UF]. Far beyond the allowed 15%, perhaps to 40%. I believe the preliminary steps have been approved even. And then there’s the block tuition they are forcing on all full time students. Everyone will have to pay for 15 credit hours even if they take 12.

Anyhow, good luck to you all!
I know the wait can be horrible!

Even though I was accepted for Summer and applied for Summer Term, I am starting to not like the idea of having to go during the summer. Mostly because I need to save up some more money. I have just enough, to help pay for my semesters, but I won’t have much to spend on other expenses such as food and commuting to work. It’s cutting really close. I contacted admissions, so I hope they will let me switch for Fall instead.

I thought the block tuition was dropped?

papertiger87- they may allow this change. Finances are a big issue for me too, and it’s on the border of being very thin/not doable. Part of my reason for applying to FSU in particular is that it is a much larger school than the smaller university I was already accepted into and may have more aid to offer. But I have no other reasons to think this.

I would probably not be going in the summer either except that for my major a single term before the fall as a general admit is required to see whether the student is admitted into the limited access major (according to grades in required courses only offered at FSU).

Of course, I’m going to be comparing aid packages first.

Hope it works out for you!

block tuition at UF will begin in fall of 2012:

I’m surprised that the block tuition went through. In my opinion, this should not be allowed at a state school. It doesn’t seem to serve any purpose other than to artificially inflate the 4 year grad rate by effectively ridding the school of part-time students. This is a case where pressure from USNWR rankings is encouraging measures that are actually harmful, even if they make the numbers look better.

I’m an upper level transfer from UF. Does anyone know when decisions are made? I see that some of you were already accepted, is it random? Major is Criminology btw. Good luck to everyone else.
