Summer Acceptance

So I recently go accepted into USF for the Summer semester, what does this mean? Like can someone please tell me thoroughly what this summer program means?

Unless you where admitted to a special program, like the “Freshman Summer Institute” (FSI), it’s a normal acceptance, except they expect you to enroll in the summer term (and then in the fall, spring, etc, like any other student).

Universities are limited in the number of freshmen they can accept, based on the number of instructors and classes (facilities) they have available. The fall term is the most packed. However, they always have lots of surplus resources over the summer term (more instructors/professors and class rooms than students), so they look for ways to get more students enrolled in the summer term. One method is to have Freshman start in the summer. This allows them to enroll more incoming freshman, and to take advantage of the surplus resources available in the summer.

The pluses for the student, is it’s usually easier to get accepted in the summer (less competition), and it allows you to get a head start in school before the fall term starts.

Congrats on your acceptance!
