Summer Acting programs that are cheap!

ProudDad…the SUNY Purchase Pre-College program looks real good. However, it is four weeks and costs $1880 (that truly is cheap but I think that just covers the day program). But that costs more than early_college wants and is much longer as well, than he wants. And he’d have to commute.

early_college, if you can stay in NYC and take some classes, that might be a good option, but your parents may not wish to let you lose in NYC as a rising HS soph.

Look into options in your own region that are not overnight. Again, many states have Governor’s Institutes.

Also, if you are serious about pursuing acting in college and beyond, you may have to start making choices as a teen…stay in swim team? do many things? focus on training to enter a college program for acting? and so on. I have a daughter who did many things but she applied to BA schools. My daughter who entered a BFA, however, used to do many things, but gave up all of her sports (soccer, ski racing, figure skating) in middle school, to focus just on the one area (and many facets of that area): theater, which she had been involved in since age 4. I’m not telling you to give up swim team but you may have to make some choices if you want to enter a professional degree program in college in acting. If you are undecided, that is perfectly fine. But a BA path in college is more suitable and in that case, keep your swim team up and take acting classes, and so on.
