Summer Activities

Hi guys! Another quick question. How much do colleges look into summer activities, volunteering, and work experience? On the grand scale of importance, where do these things rank among grades, test scores, extracurriculars, essays, recs, and interviews, all of which I am fairly confident in. But I have okay summer activities, mediocre volunteering, and no work experience unfortunately. Is that a big deal? Do they only use them in so far as a benefit if you have them, or as a hinderance if you don’t? Thanks.

I would definitely try to do something productive with your summer. Whether it be starting your college applications or volunteering. Don’t let it go to waste. I don’t think it will hurt your application but I would definitely be using your time wisely.

@Nattybow2015 Oh, perhaps I forgot to mention. I have been working on my college applications daily since May. I have done a little bit of volunteering, but I was wondering in a more general sense how important it is, not just this summer. I also take college courses in the summer and do research.

Then I think you are more than fine for admnissions

Just out of curiousity, is there any circumstance where adding extracurriculars your senior year helps boost your application? Forget my own case. I’m just trying to get a general sense of something.

Sorry lol for previous post. Wrong thread…

You seem very concerned with figuring out what will impress adcoms. That generally isn’t the best approach.
