Summer Activities

I had originally planned to research at my university this summer, but after deciding that I was not interested in the research, I ended up going home for the summer. Unfortunately, it seems as though there is little for me to do this summer. I am volunteering at a hospital once a week and doing some shadowing, but I am seriously concerned that my lack of medicine-related extracurricular activities this summer is going to hurt my chances of getting into med school.

So, I have two questions: should I be concerned, and is there anything you could suggest doing at this point during the summer?

Thanks.

I would try to look for something else to do, or at least volunteer at the hospital for more than one day a week if you can.

Does your college/university have a work-study program? If it does, and if you're able to tap into it at this date, I'd recommend taking advantage of it. Sometimes there are postings for summer jobs actually at hospitals that involve clinical research. Or you could check some newspapers for job listings, but you probably won't find what you're looking for there.
