Hola, everyone.

I'm currently a sophomore, and I've been thinking a lot recently about what to do over the summer.

Thinking over the whole issue of MCAT, I thought maybe it's in my best interest to take the whole summer off to study for the test and take it at the end of summer. I was originally going to take it after winter break, but I've been told that it's difficult--if not impossible--to study effectively for the MCAT as a full-time student, and there's no way I can cram for the test in about a month max. However, I'm wondering how med schools think about this?

I originally was planning to volunteer abroad in the tropics (rather unrelated to med school) because I'm interested evolutionary biology. I could always go next summer, but I'm wondering whether the opportunity cost of a "lost" summer is too high to justify studying for the MCAT.

Any help would be appreciated. :)
