If I indicate that I want to be admitted for Summer 2010 instead of Fall, will my chances go up? Also, if I just apply for Fall, will they automatically consider me for summer if I don't get in for fall?

most likely, as there are far fewer applicants for summer term. it’s sneaky, and most people don’t think of it. but I’d bet you it works.

Well, it would cost me my last summer before college, so I’m sure many people consider it but don’t go through with it, but are people that get rejected for fall considered for the other terms (summer, winter, spring?)

Well, I was waitlisted for fall and then accepted for summer. I took one summer class that was interesting, provocative, and downright easy. And now I’m here during the fall having the time of my life.

Your last summer before college probably isn’t as special as you think it is.

Yeah, I actually like the idea of getting a headstart and getting to attend when the weather’s nice. I can also get accustomed to the school a little earlier.

Well, for CoE, you have to apply for the fall anyways…

I think that sounds like a pretty good idea. I have never taken a summer course at Michigan but typically summer semesters are shorter and thus at times the classes can be more intense as there is less time to cover the material, so unless someone jumps in to let us know that it’s not that bad here then I might not jump into your hardest courses during that summer. Just food for thought, hopefully someone more knowledgeable can tell you more about what it’s like here during the summer.

Starting in the summer is a good way to get used to college and get used to exams.
