My friend studies architecture in a pretty good university abroad. She plans to visit NYC this summer, and she's interested in taking a course that focuses on architectural design, drawing, or something along those lines. Does anyone know any courses or programs that would be suitable for her situation?

i would look at schools in the nyc area that has arch programs that offer summer courses, and then ask what to do if you/your friend wants to take these courses but doesnt attend the university. i know that columbia, pratt, and cooper union have arch programs…i dont think there are anymore though

^ There are smaller schools with summer architecture programs too, but those three CUAmbassador11 mentioned are the ones that stand out.

Parsons has summer architecture, too, I’m pretty sure.

Columbia has an “introduction to architecture” program that is geared toward people considering architecture school. Nevertheless, it may be appropriate for your friend as it offers an overview of the skills and processes important to architecture and is more general than a specific architecture course.

Being in NYC is a main appeal of the program with exposure to working architects as instructors and critics, visits to architectural firms and of course the city itself.
