Whats the summer session at ucla like? I'm not from cali, so all my friends are gonna be gone way before the end of september, so I'm thinking it might be a good idea. I'd go session c which is august 7 to september 15. Would there be a lot of ucla kids in the dorms then? Anyone else doing this session?

what class(es) are you taking in the summer session?

probably econ 1 and maybe something else.

where did you get information on these sessions?

i'm taking classes this summer during session c. a good amount take summer school but it won't be like ucla over the school year. i'm taking chem 14c and cl. yes i know i'll die, shut up haha. you can find information on.. www.summer.ucla.edu

whats cl?...

For chemistry, there are 2 types of series: the 20(gen chem)/30(organic chem) series for chemistry/biochemistry/engineer majors, and the 14 series for life science majors. The letter immediately following the numbers indicates what step in the series you're in. 14a and 14b are general chemistry, 14c and 14d are organic chemistry courses. The l following the letter indicates a lab course. So 14cl is an organic lab class that is in line with the information taught in the regular 14c lecture class.

do you know if you get fin aid for these things?

i'm gettting absolutely nothing for the school year, just a PLUS loan. For the summer, is there a possibility of a grant/ merit scholo, etc.?

Do most people take more than one class or what? I want to take two unless its an insane amount of work.

you can do summer classes in the summer right before freshman year? or are you guys referring to the summers after 1st year?

yes you guys can do classes before your first year, it'll just cost you more money haha.

you can do classes even if u havent gone through orientation yet? or how do u sign up

not sure cuz i never took classes at ucla before my freshman year. but check the website. www.summer.ucla.edu

I took a summer class last year. It was awsome, but it is not the same as it will be in the fall. I heard from students that classes are typically easier in the summer for some reason, and I met a lot of people that did not attend UCLA, but took classes there. Oh, and the dorms are always occupied by kids in a summer sport camp. I was not there for session c so it could be different.
