Summer/Autumn 2020 Transfer to Ohio State

Hi! I was planning on applying to Ohio State for either the summer or autumn semester in 2020. I applied for the spring 2020 semester but I just started my freshman year of college so I could not provide any new academic information from my autumn 2019 application, so I didn’t get in for the spring either… I’m almost done with my first semester, however, and I wanted to know if my stats look good:

college GPA (estimation): either 3.75 or 3.81 (somewhere around there)
high school GPA (unweighted): 3.45
ACT: 24
Extracurricular: tons of volunteer, varsity sports, work, clubs
I’m in-state

I have to provide my high school info since I’ll only have 17 credit hours done. If anyone who has transferred or knows someone who has transferred can let me know how my stats look that would be appreciated! Or any help is great! Thanks!!

@collegegirl2825 My understanding is that transferring to OSU isn’t that difficult. As the state flagship, it has a mission to receive many students from smaller local colleges.

What is your intended major? And, may I ask, what’s the rush? Why would you want to start in the summer term? Why not wait until the Fall? If you complete your first year of college, you will have enough credits to rely only on your college stats, and you are doing so well!

@cypresspat OSU is the school I’ve wanted to go to for a while but I didn’t get in the first time so I just want to be there. Also, I was thinking if I was able to take a class or two at OSU over the summer I would be able to get to know the campus and I won’t feel intimidated coming in later. But thank you for your input!!

@cypresspat & my major is psychology

I don’t know the rules for transfer at all, but I assume that info is on the website. Since you were not accepted the first time, my guess is that you would want to apply using your college credentials only, and therefore, you would need to apply with the minimum number of credits needed, whatever that is. If that is only one semester’s worth, your GPA is strong and I would guess you would be accepted. But I suspect that OSU would want to see an entire years worth of grades, but I could be very wrong. Good luck! I am sure will work out for you as you seem to be working hard towards your goal.

I actually ended up with a 3.94! I think it is easier to get in as a transfer, so hopefully my GPA from first semester of college will make up for my high school GPA.

hey i think your stats look great, im pretty sure i read somewhere that OSU’s transfer gpa minimum is a 3. also im applying to transfer autumn 2020 as a sophomore too, so if you need a fellow transfer buddy, hmu:))

Congrats on the GPA! I’ve also heard that OSU is pretty easy to transfer in, I"ve also heard that 3.0 min, and has a lot of transfers in and outs sophomore year.

Hi!
I just recently applied for Autumn 2020. I have a 2.7 with 60 credits. I called their admissions office and was told that a 2.5 GPA was considered “competitive”. I’m still waiting on them to get back to me. I hope we all get in & good luck!!!

@cupofcoffee i saw that you were applying to osu … i was wondering if u had done so and if so how long it took to hear back from them .

I never gave an update and I thought it would be a good idea if I did! so I got accepted in January and it took about 2.5 weeks to get a response after I applied, so not too long of a wait. I applied with the personal statement which I think helped. I know a lot of people who applied to transfer so no one should worry! But the sooner you apply, the better. Good luck everyone!
