would STA2023 get rid of a premed requirement or would i still have to take MAC2311?

You have to take both STA2023 and MAC2311.

are you sure about that?

can't i just take one or the other?

No, premed req is 2 math classes. Usually people take STA2023 and MAC2311 or Mac2311 and 2312.

FYI- Premed

-Mathematics
At least 2 semesters of college-level mathematics; one semester of calculus (MAC 2311) is recommended. STA2023 is also recommended, although some medical schools stipulate additional calculus courses.

-General Chemistry
CHM 2045-2046 and CHM 2045L-2046L, or CHM 2047 and CHM 2047L (You must go to the Chemistry department to be placed in CHM2047). Depending on your background in Chemistry, you may want to begin the Chemistry sequence with CHM 1025, Introduction to Chemistry, which will help prepare you for the General Chemistry Sequence. Before registering for General Chemistry, you must take the Chemistry Readiness Assessment test (ChRA) on ISIS.

Organic Chemistry
CHM 2210-2211 and CHM 2211L or CHM 3217-CHM 3218 and CHM 2211L .

take CHM 2210-2211 and Lab
***Some health professional school programs feel the CHM 3217-3218, 2211L sequence may not satisfy total prerequisite credit hour requirements. It is recommended that students choosing to complete this sequence to complete one additional course, BCH 4024

-Biochemistry
1 semester is recommended by most professional schools and required by many medical schools. BCH 4024 , BCH 3025, or CHM 3218.
take the med school version BCH4024
-Physics
PHY 2053-2054 and PHY 2053L-2054L or PHY 2048-2049 and PHY 2048L-2049L or PHY 2060-2061 and PHY 2060L-2061L .
take 53/54 with labs
-Biology
BSC 2010-2011 and BSC 2010L-2011L.

-English
At least 2 semesters at the college level. Some medical schools require 3 courses in English with emphasis on composition. Many medical schools do not stipulate whether their English requirements are for composition or literature courses, but composition courses are recommended to strengthen communication skills and help prepare for admission tests.

Okay so I was going to take that Precalculus/college algebra course over the summer along with Intro to Physcology.

Should I not take the math then? And does anyone know if the Physcology class is hard? Under the suggested courses for an Elementary school major is suggest I take Intro to Statistics so I could take that if it is easier?

I think statistics would be easier to take in the Summer than MAC1147 or MAC2311. Psychology classes depend on the professor. DO NOT take psychology with professor griggs! Psychology usually is just alot of reading, so if you're up for that, then you should be fine.

how hard or easy is STA2023 for summer B?

Asmaj wouldn't taking MAC2311 and MAC2312 (calc 1 and 2) be better than taking one semester of stat and one semester of calculus or does it not make a difference as long as you fulfill the premed requirements with a high GPA?

STA2023 can either be easy or hard for you. It really depends on the person, its a subject you eiter get right away or you have to take some time to fully understand it. I've always been a Pre-Cal/Calculus person, so I had to study a bit more for statistics because it is more conceptual. I looked on the course listings site and saw that Mocko was teaching STA2023 in the Summer, and from what I hear, she is the better professor for statistics. It's not supposed to be a hard class, it is only an introductory course to statistics, but if you've never, ever had a statistics class in your life, then it will be a lot of new information and terminology. AND it's going to be going at a faster pace because you only have 6 weeks to learn the material.

IMO, I would take STA2023 and MAC2311. It really doesn't make a difference what two math classes you take [as long as one of them is MAC2311]. My roommate dropped Calculus 2 because he said it was extremely hard, and this coming from somebody who had gotten A's in CHM2045 and MAC2311. But, He might just have gotten lazy. It depends on you and what math courses you feel you are better in.

So is it mandatory that we take 2 classes and or/ 6 credits

For Summer B, yes. Also, if you are depending on Financial Aid, you need to be enrolled in 6 credits to receive your awards.

From anyone with experience: 3 classes (Biology for Engineers, English Composition, and a humanities) be an overload for the summer B semester?

That's a lot imo. It's 6 weeks, so they move really FAST. I never took ENC1101, but I hear it's a lot of work. Your humanities should be easy, but it will still require you to keep up with the lectures. And if you're taking Biology for Engineers for your Biological Science Credit if you're an EE or something (I'm assuming), there are less rigorous (easier) options. I would take Wildlife Issues instead, easiest class at UF. I took Bio for Engineers and it was a mistake, but then again I had the most boring professor ever. But I would recommend you take 2 classes, there really isn't a need to overload if you don't need to.

ENC1101 would definitely be a lot of work in six weeks. My friend complained about the work in the Fall, so imagine for a 6 week session. You would be writing papers every week, and you'd probably have something do every week. For Humanities, I'd recommend, MUL2010 [Intro To Music Lit] it's one of the easier humanities UF offers and it's not a hard class to keep up with during the Summer.

Just remember that most likely all three exams/due dates will be on the same day every 2 weeks, which can make it difficult if you don't keep up. I have taken 9 credits summer A, but it did consume a lot of my time.

How much would sumemr b cost if u took 2 or 3 classes and stayed on campus? please someone help.....my family is so lost with this im the first one going to college....

2-3 classes (~$100 per credit hour) = ~$600-900
dorm= ~$600-800 (depends on which dorm you stay in)
meal plan (optional) = ~$550 (i think) check www.gatordining.ufl.edu
books = ~$100-200

which would be a better course to take over Summer B in preperation for MAC2311 in the fall: MAC1140 or MAC1114? How come only MAC1140 can be used as a prereq for MAC2311 and not MAC1114?
