Did anyone else get admitted for Summer B? Does anyone know how this works? ie. How many classes we have to take? If deadlines are any different? Move in dates? ANY INFORMATION? On ISIS, all it says is that it starts July 2nd and ends August 10. Thanks!

I did! But I’m not quite sure how it all works.

My daughter was accepted summer b 2009 and it was 6 weeks long. She took two classes (6 credit hours) and her classes were I think Monday-Friday because it was short semester. Summer B is a great way to learn your way around UF before 50,000 students return for Fall semester. She really loved her Summer B semester

Thank you! Yeah, I think it might be beneficial to start in the summer, anyway. Do you know if there were any specific requirements for classes she had to take during the summer?

Everyone I know that went to summer to start of their UF career loved it, and still talk about it. There’s not any particular classes that you must take, but I do know that certain classes aren’t offered over Summer B.

Do summer classes go a bit faster than Fall? I took a dual enrollment class at a local community college and the pace was supposedly much faster due to the Summer term being shorter.

I also got admitted for Summer B 2012. I am looking forward to it, as I was going to move to Gainesville in June to settle in, anyway. :)

I’m starting summer b from Philadelphia. Facebook me carly Silverman

So, if you’ve admitted for the Summer B, your 1 semester will be from July, 2nd to August, 10th? And you’ll have to take exams at the end of this baby-semester? But what can you learn in such a short period of time…

I’m really confused. Could someone clarify this for me.

You take 2 or so classes over a six week semester and then have a short break and come back for a regular fall. Some colleges have special programs set up for the summer - like engineering- otherwise students take what interests them. Summer hours are also required to graduate so this is a great way to get started on meeting graduation requirements.

Summer does move a little faster, and you go to class every day, but it is hard for them to think of 3 times as much work to give you so you do a little less than in Fall or Spring and you usually only have 0-1 other class.

I got in for Summer B as well! I was a bit disappointed at first but I’ve been hearing it’s better to start in the summer and what not. As long as I still get to go in the Fall, I’m fine. Although I’ll only have about a month of summer vacation, I’m definitely looking forward to being a gator!
Congrats to everyone!
