Summer B housing

I was accepted for summer b and I don't know which dorm to pick. I want the most social dorm and would prefer if it was a double. I think the options are murphree, keys, springs, Beaty, yulee and Reid, and lakeside.

I would go for Murphree! It’s the best area out of all of them and rooms are nicer and more social then most of those you listed

Is the Engineering dorm available for summer? Anybody know? If it’s not, can you get it for fall?

I’m sure it is open for Summer. Definitely Fall!

Do any of you guys know if it’s possible for a summer B person to room with a fall student? My friend got into Summer B and I into Fall, how would we go about being roommates when I start in the fall? Thanks for any help.

I’m 99% sure you change dorms between summer and fall. So you choose one dorm for fall, and another that you stay in for fall/spring

For summer B would murphree be all freshman or would there be upperclassmen in it?

I’m in the same situation. Right now, I’m thinking 1. Jennings, 2. Broward and 3. Yulee. If anyone wants to make any suggestions or point out problems with any of the places I listed, feel free.

Jennings and broward aren’t open for summer B

Where did you find out what dorms are open for summer b? I heard Broward was open for summer be a few years ago.

@ Petebella Oh God, no please avoid Broward at all cost. It is literally the rowdiest and most insane res hall on campus. The should be anyone’s last option. Unless you are a hard core partier and live a wild lifestyle. I would avoid Broward. Jennings is a nicer version of Broward. It is calmer but it isn’t as close to campus as one would think. Yulee is prob the safest bet as there are no real issues or reputations it has.

All these options are a good if you want the First Year On campus experience.

@this15me Murphree Area is always a mix of upperclassman and freshman, but a slightly bigger majority in Upperclassman (i.e. Sophomore, Junior, Seniors). In the summer, the numbers might be in favor towards freshmen but not sure on that. Murphree Area is by far one of the best options out there for that nice First Year On Campus Exp.

Hope this helps!

Just checked it out… You’re right :.

Murphree, Keys, Springs, Lakeside, Yulee and Beaty are the halls that are open during Summer B 2013.

[Summer Housing & Residence Education University of Florida](http://www.housing.ufl.edu/undergrad/apply/summer/)

And since Beaty is for IA it seems and Keys is for upperclassmen, that leaves Murphree, Springs, Lakeside and Yulee.

it is very possible! You will pick your spring housing and then fall housing separate. They make you move your stuff out between Summer B and Fall. My daughter lives in Murphree - a two room double and loves it. There are 3 of them and they all get along great…they were not friends before school started!

Copied this from another post:

“Summer B students who completed both a Summer B and Fall/Spring Contract by the due date above will have the opportunity in March to select a Summer B room. If this Summer B room is also open for Fall/Spring the Assignments team will roll your assignment forward for Fall/Spring. This will only be offered in the month of March. This will save you time and money. If your rooms are not the same for Summer B and Fall then you will have to move out during the break period. UF Housing does not have storage between Summer B and Fall. *If you transfer rooms in Summer B (one you are on campus) your room will not be transferred for Fall/Spring.”

Halls you can choose from:
Murphee
Beaty
Yullee
Reid
Mallory
Rawlings
Spring
Lakeside
(pretty sure this is correct list…it is on housing contract)

So if you want a different hall for Fall, you will have to move"

Update: Logged into the housing portal today and Rawlings was removed from the list of options for Summer B.

Looks like Hume and Sledd have been added.

So Hume would be open for non-honors kids in the summer right?

Yes. But you will probably have to move out for a week and move into a new dorm in Fall.

But if you are not honors/cannot stay in Hume for Fall and pick one of the other dorms, you will not have to move out during that week in between summer and fall(Obviously if you picked the same room for both)
