Summer B

Can anyone please tell me all the pros and cons of being admitted to UF through the Summer B program?

I thought it just meant that you could start college earlier if you preferred it. Back in November I put Summer B, but now I hope that if I am accepted, they will allow me to start in the Fall.

Well both my sisters did Summer B for their freshman year and they said that all of their friends that didn't do Summer B all regretted not doing it. One reason to do it is that Florida as a state requires students to go Summer for 9 credits, unless you have ap credit which most of us do. Another thing is that you get to know where all of your classes are and you make friends much easier since there are less people. Basically it is just better all around to go Summer as a freshman.

I started summer b, mainly because I thought it would help me get in, but Im really glad I did it.

Its a lot quiter during the summer but it really allows you to get acustomed to the campus. It also can be used to lighten your fall semester as well if your like me and are easily distracted by things like football...

I also rushed and it made that whole experience a hell of a lot easier as well.

If you stay on campus you get to transfer your stuff to your fall dorm and that really helps when your moving in and theres 50,000 other people doing it as well. Less work to do.

Cons-um its really, really hot. Bring shorts...

Also, you have about a week or two break between summer and fall. This really didnt bother me I just got tired of packing and unpacking.

Thats all I can think of, hope that helps.

Summer B is so much fun. It's really one of the easiest ways to transition to UF. You don't have to take hard classes and can take 2 gen ed courses just to get the feel for college level classes. Also, not all 50K students are here during the Summer, so it's definitely not as crazy. You also have the advantage over Freshmen who start in the Fall, IMO. You know campus already and where all the major buildings are. You don't have to deal with getting to know campus with everyone there. And you can transfer you're belongings from the Summer over to where you are staying in the Fall.

But, like many have said, it is HOT in the Summer. It is humid, so bring light clothing.
