any suggestions for a good one week summer band camp on the east coast?

My kids attended this camp for several years and loved it. One has also worked as a CIT there. It is held at Ithaca College, although it is run privately, not sponsored by the college. THey have full run of the music facilities. It is a nice combination of band and choir (everyone sings in the big camp choir), and classes with some good “camp” fun thrown in. Great faculty/staff and very comforting/“homey”/nurturing/community-building philosophy. Especially great if your student is younger, but many of the teens are several-year campers too. There is (or at least used to be) some scholarship money available.

A lot may depend on how old the child is and what type of music your musician is looking to play? Is it concert band, marching band, jazz band or orchestra? For a one week camp there are many choices at various colleges but the one at Penn State is very good, reasonably priced and you can choose from concert, jazz and orchestra groups or as my son did play in all three. For Jazz the one at William Paterson U is another good value program. There are several one week programs such as the Eastman Trombone Workshop that are specifically for one instrument.

NEMC! But… it’s about a month. Are you looking for an instrument-specific camp, or how NJ Jazz dad asked, something with jazz, concert band, marching band?

NJ Jazz dad reminded me that I forgot to mention that Signature also offers jazz bands and show choirs. I was always amazed what they could get the kids to do in just a week or two. No orchestra or marching.
