Hey there,
so it's that time to start thinking again. all of my college applications are in, my pre-screening CDs are being sent next week, and my auditions are all scheduled. At this time of year, I would be thinking about what I wanted to do for the summer, so I am :)
The problem is that it's the summer before college, and I kind of want to stay in the area, as I'll hopefully be going away in August. So, I was wondering if anyone knew of any programs for classical voice in the Tri-State Area and maybe a little bit outwards. I'm looking for something other than BUTI, Interlochen, Eastman and CMU as I've done all of those. But, something in Boston or upstate NY, or even Manhattan might be nice.
Anyone know if any opera companies offer internships in NYC? I'm just trying to find something to do that isn't a typical high school vocal program that talks about how to get into college and stuff like that, since hopefully I'll have already done that.
Let me know,

What about:

Martina Arroyo Foundation, Inc. - Prelude to Performance - Home Page

A friend's son who is not ready for roles did this just to be in the chorus, and he got lots out of it. You would view the professional world, learn two operas really well, get good instruction in language diction, and meet some terrific young professionals. Let me know if you want more information.

Unfortunately, I'm only 18 and this program says that it only accepts over 21.
Thanks for the offer, though

What tri-state area do you mean?

Ny, Nj, Pa, Ct, Ma

The Chatauqua program is supposed to be awesome - but it's very long.

My daughter would have applied but it conflicts with an Institute she is currently a part of.
