I'm currently a sophomore, and i'm wondering what i should do during the summer

Anyone have good suggestions? Summer programs..volunteering opportunities.. anything? (preferably in california)
i'm planning on taking a Psychology course at a local community college, but should i do something else instead?

i'm going to attend NSLC for medicine, and i was wondering how nslc is compared to leadamerica and nylf (i just want the experience... i know it won't be a wow factor for apps)

thanks :]

ps. is the Academic Connections summer program at UCSD worth it?

I guess u could've tried the summer programs of top univ (like UCLA and stuffs........it might have been worth that $2000.....well, I'm not from Calif so, I can't help more than that :D)

Yeah, I was explaining about CC to a friend today, and I described it as a drug. You get addicted to it, and withdrawel is hard. It makes you happy and sad at times and it can make you feel numb as well. :) Don't get sucked into it (and that coming from me)

hoby is definitely worth it -- plus, it is only 3-5 days so you can still do plenty of other things.

my son did hoby and since then has had several interviews and applications for various programs -- and he has been asked about HOBY and told that it is something they look for by several people (college admin folks included). It isn't in the same category as TASP or RSI, but it is for sophomores and the time commitment is not much -- so you can't go wrong.

You seem to know a lot and is very active in this thread. Do you know anything about Michigan Tech Exploration in Engineering program? I am just wondering if it's worth the time?

^naaaaaah! (:D) Frankly, I DON'T really know A LOT! In fact, being active in CC, which is not always good, (u'll urself find the reason when u get inactive w/ ur studies a times for CC!) I learnt quite a lot! Particularly from hsmomstef! She KNOWS A LOT abt summer programs and stuffs!
Now, to answer ur question..........Michigan Tech.......a week long stuff. In addition it costs pretty less! The program looks pretty promising to me. And I think it's worth the time........and if one can get some Gr8 experience for this one week program, definitely one should go for it (provided no other conflicting circumstances exist)
