summer bootcamp

I don't know where exactly to post this question, but I think lots of informed people read this board, so here goes!

I am a sophomore in college and I remember a few years ago a friend of mine did a summer boot camp through the military. He was paid money upon completion with the promise that in times of war he would enlist.

The boot camp was his only obligation to the military. After the two month, or six week program, he went back to school.

I am interested in doing this, to get a taste of military life. One thing is that I am clinically depressed. I know this disqualifies me for military service, but what about this boot camp?

banana,

This sounds like a National Guard program. Currently, the gurad is offering up to $20,000 as an incentive to enlist. In case you haven't heard, we are at war with the islamic fascists! If you do sign up with the National Guard, you should plan on a deployment to either Afghanistan or Iraq.
