Anyone in this program? I know it's too late to get into it, but I'm curious what factors or criteria do they use to invite students?

ehhhh.....

It's more of a 'remedial' type deal.

but wait... how would students needing remedial courses be accepted into Berkeley in the first place?

They get accepted under the condition that they have to enroll in Summer Bridge. Obviously theyre still good students, just not as strong as the others.

Sooo not a “remedial” thing. It’s Berkeley. These are kids with average gpas of 4.00s and at the very least 1900 SATs. The only thing about this program is that it gives you the opportunity to have smaller class sizes (capped at 70 vs 100+ in similar summer courses) and its more like a holding-your-hand as you make your transition into college. Because while in regular summer programs you’re basically on your own, in summer bridge you live together and have a schedule AND room and board is included, plus books and bus transportation. Its a neat little package for not much cost which is why priority is given to low income students.

The course offerings do include some which appear to be for those who came from high schools with weak college preparation, as well as some normal frosh level courses: <a href=“Summer Bridge | Student Learning Center”>Summer Bridge | Student Learning Center;
