Hi everyone! I'm a rising senior, and I'm applying for the Summer@Brown pre-college program this summer. I'm interested in the Creative Writing Workshop course. Applications opened fairly recently; just wondering if anyone else was applying too!

And also, I have a couple questions about the program. What are the chances of getting in? Do they accept pretty much everyone? How vigorous are the courses? And when they ask for a "brief essay," what is considered "brief"? O.o

Anyway, hope everyone's enjoying the wintry season!

Hi sunbloom! Same question here, but I will be applying for one of the psychology courses I guess
Anyone knows whether the program is worth it??

My D went last summer, but to the science program - loved it! Can’t speak about your programs - but the campus is beautiful there is a fun row if restaurants - not much else.

I Did a science program at brown last summer. I really enjoyed mine and thought it was worth while. Some people I meet were taking psychology courses or debate classes and didn’t enjoy them as much. Their classes were just three hour lectures followed by hours of homework at night. If that is what you want then yes those courses are good. The class I was in have enough work that I learned but not too much that I didn’t want to do it. If the intention is that a child going to a summer program will be okay doing homework at night for hours than yes the homework may be okay.

Hey, guys! I received the acceptance email a few weeks ago, but I don’t know if I’ll attend. It’s definitely really pricey. Anyone else considering whether or not to go? I’m desperately researching reviews to decide whether or not it’s worth it.
is anyone else considering summer@brown this year? the application seems laughably simple, and the selectivity of the program is really questionable(i was in providence last summer and talked with some summer@brown kids who were by all means intelligent but not quite on par with the actual brown students…most were there for fun and had the money) i’m debating between brown and a few other programs(cmu, stanford humanities) but brown requires confirmation and deposit in a few weeks…any input??
@sunbloom I’ll be attending two one week courses this summer: Intro to engineering and engineering, energy and the environment. My “brief” essay was 300-400 words long.
Did you apply yet and if you did, did you get a reply?
Hey guys! @futureengineerSG I applied a few months ago, and got an acceptance email pretty quickly. I’m still exploring my other options though. If I do go, I’ll be going for the 4 week Fiction Creative Writing Workshop. June 29 - July 24! So yes, @anna2k15 , I’ll be there in July!
Im also gonna be attending the 13july-24 session and was wondering if anyone knew if the psychology courses were worth it (especially since im a freshmen and would like to explore as many topics as I can)
