I just wanted to know if anyone else plans to attend Summer@Brown 2020??? Obviously there are going to be people, but I don’t know anyone and it would be cool to have someone I know before actually getting there I believe that I’ll be there for the two week session beginning July 13, but I’m not sure what program I’m going to sign up for yet (probably something related to humanities or writing).
Anyways, anyone who plans to attend, feel free to respond no matter what dates or what program :))) That way we can help anyone else out that may be in the same situation as me right now where I’m afraid of going and having no friends lolol
Hi! I’ve really been considering Summer@Brown but there are so many options and I have no idea which course/s I want to apply for! I will probably apply for something in June, if I can decide on a course?
I’ve also been accepted but I’m debating whether to attend. On the one hand, it’s bound to be really fun and it’ll allow me to learn about the school and decide whether I want to apply to Brown ED. However, it isn’t cheap and it won’t directly help with chances of admission, and I’m definitely going to a more selective program at Yale, so I’m afraid I might be overloading myself with stuff for the summer.
@geekysandwich You’re right it’s expensive and mostly a money-grab that is unlikely to help your chance of admission. If attending would stretch your wallet, pass it up and take a campus visit to get a feel for Brown before applying ED. On the other hand, attending Yale’s program (depending on what it is) may help your chance at admissions at T20s. If you want to (and can afford) to do both, do both. But make sure you leave time for yourself to relax, study for the SAT/ACT, and enjoy your last summer as a high school student
@strive345 Thanks for the advice! My family is able to afford it so money isn’t really a problem thankfully. The program I’m attending is YYGS and I’m really looking forward to it! Thank god I’m done with SAT testing, but yeah. Are you planning on attending Summer@Brown?
I also applied to YYGS, but I chose Summer@Brown because I live in GA where we have a Governor’s Honors Program (which I’m currently in the application process of), and I was just scared that the two schedules may collide. However, with the program at Brown I feel that the dates would be much more compatible. Also, I plan on EDing to Brown next school year, so I feel that this will help me make the decision of whether that’s really where I want to commit to.

@mlshim haha, I definitely get that. It took me like two weeks after being accepted to decide on a course. I hope you find something that you want to do though!!!
@haydennr that’s cool! Just want to say that if I were you and was accepted to both summer programs at Yale and Brown, I would go to YYGS even if I’m gonna apply ED to Brown, just because neither schools track demonstrated interest, YYGS is much more prestigious than Summer@Brown, and I could still visit Brown over the summer. But that’s just my two cents!
@mkat2003 They release decisions on a rolling basis. I heard back around a week after I submitted my app, I was surprised by how quickly they released my decision.
@geekysandwich not really going for prestige, I just want a feel of the campus that I don’t think I would get from just a visit. I do agree with you though that if I wanted prestige I should do YYGS
@haydennr that’s true. Ah I’m so conflicted on whether to go to this one-week engineering course (Summer@Brown) or just do a campus visit. It’ll be much cheaper for a one day visit and my mom thinks a one-week course isn’t worth it…
@geekysandwich i don’t know your financial situation, so i can’t say what’s best for you, but i definitely think that you would get a lot more in one week than you would in one day. that’s mainly why i want to go. also, i think that the one week course would be “worth it” since that is something that shows youre taking initiative in your education if you decide to mention that on a college app, ya know?
@pinkcc i’m not sure about aid specifically for international students, but i know that they have scholarships that anyone accepted is welcome to apply for
