Hi. I’m a junior in a high school, considering applying ED to Brown next year. (or REA to Stanford if I change mind…)
I just got a letter from summer@Brown that I got Dean’s scholarship. I am really happy but concerned at the same time, as I have seen many forums saying attending summer programs at Brown could potentially lower your possibility to get in as an undergraduate by proving your financial affordability to such prestige program.

Therefore, I’m wondering…
should I go to this program or not?
I’d like to visit Brown, but would it falsely show my financial status?

I don’t understand your concern. You received financial aid in order to attend Summer@Brown. That’s a good thing. If you are worried that this will show colleges you have financial need when you go to apply, they will know anyway when you apply for financial aid, and schools like Brown and Stanford do not take financial need into account when they make admissions decisions. Is that what you are worried about?
