Summer @ Brown "So you think you want to be a doctor"

Hi there. I have started thinking about summer programs I might want to apply to for next summer. I will be a rising junior. I am very interested in the Brown pre college summer program. I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight on their experience and specifically the "So you think you want to be a doctor" course which is what I am most interested in taking should I apply and be accepted.

If you could tell me about the workload (homework, etc), how difficult it is it get in, and just about your overall experience it would be appreciated. :)

I went a year ago (rising sophomore), but I took the Leadership in Science, Technology, and Medicine course instead. I would’ve loved to take that course, but it was full :frowning:
Basically it was a good experience of what living on a college campus was like and having a lot of independence. For my course in the Leadership Institute, I had class from 9 AM - 3 PM with two hour workshops afterwords sometimes… The workload was manageable and I hated buying expensive books that I barely looked at!
When you do have free time, there’s always the mall nearby which is great and a lot of places to eat out when you get tired of the cafeteria food. I hated the bathrooms! Def rent/bring a fan if you decide to go…
Just know that going to this program you won’t necessarily get admission into Brown, but I know that my professor said that I would always be able to ask her for a recommendation, which is great.
Overall, I think it was great experience. I wish I got to take the So you think you want to be a doctor course! Getting accepted into the program isn’t bad at all/competitive to be honest.
