Summer camp

This summer I am attending a one day recruiting camp for a D3 sports program. I'm a rising junior. I was just wondering if I should contact the school beforehand. I have had contact with an assistant before, highlighting some of my achievements about a half year ago. Would it be redundant to send another email? If not, what should I say?

Sorry if this has been asked before. Thanks!

Is it a camp that’s open to all or were you invited to participate by a coach? Regardless, I would suggest that send an email to the head coach of the program, re-introduce yourself, and just casually make him/her aware that you will be on campus for the event. Timelines for recruiting are pretty sport-specific…I know for D3 football, the action really started in the middle of my son’s junior year.

It’s a camp open to all. I am a soccer player. Thanks for the input!

By letting the coach know you are attending it shows you have interest in his program. I assume you do, make sure you let him know that in an email. Good luck

Absolutely. The one thing we keep hearing over and over again is how important it is to be proactive to put yourself on a coach’s radar. Your sincere interest in their school is just as important as their interest in you. Let them know you will be at the camp and afterwards shake the hands of the coach and tell them how much you liked the camp and the campus.

What camp is it? I just got done with Vassar one day today

Thanks, ChicagoMama. I’ll make sure to do that!

And I sent you a PM, everton17. I don’t know if I sent a duplicate or if anything went through, though
