Well I'm a sophmore and have a GPA of 3.3 (weighted). I am starting to do better in school and will hopefully bring it up to a 3.7-8 by the end of junior year. I want to become a doctor and thus major in medicine. My school does not offer anatomy and I feel like that is a good course to take. I think I will take the course at a nearby community college. Will the course be benificial? Will it count as college credit and will it be shown on my transcript?

PS - I live in NY and i have to take a State Regents. If I take another course during the summer at a college will i still have to take the regents? Like I am in 10R (regents/regular) english but if I take 11R (i dont know if colleges offer it) will I be able to skip the 11R regents and go bak to skool and b in an AP? same for math and other subjects?

It will be beneficial, and I highly encourgage it.
I am sort of regretting not taking some summer classes.
It will count towards college (I think) and you will send in the transcipts from the college when you apply.
Dont forget to enjoy your sophmore year. You wont get a break until 2nd semester Senior year…

Plus, some colleges will include those college grades when they recalibrate your hs gpa. Also, if you get good grades in college classes, it shows them you can do college level work.

Well, it may or may not transfer. It looks great for college apps, but I would highly doubt some of the more renown colleges (i.e. Harvard or Princeton) would accept an anatomy class from some random community college. (They don’t even accept 4’s on AP tests- why should they accept a community college’s credit?)

Of course it’s beneficial though. Not only does it look good on your transcript (you went above and beyond what was required), you also get some experience for your college classes that WILL be for credit.
