Summer classes before Freshman year?

So suppose I am accepted to UC San Diego for Fall 2011... Would I be able to take Summer classes the summer before my Freshman year? I realize that would probably be a terrible idea, but I'm just curious as to whether or not it's possible. :p

i was thinking about it too… but i am not sure…i already have 4 credits knocked down… and i would like to clear some gen. ed’s and all…

you know you got accepted already?

This is a great opportunity if you can get in: [OASIS UCSD](http://oasis.ucsd.edu/otp/sb_brochure.asp)
I’ve only heard good things about it, everyone who I’ve talked to who has done it loved it.

Yes you can! Taking more classes boosts your registration time, which is good if you are in a competitive major. You wont worry about that till Winter quarter (the first time they do it by “random” lottery) so no worries there. Take something interesting to you, get some further help in a subject you are unsure about, or knock off some ge with a class much easier than you will find here (mostly they are like that). :D

lol I totally misread your post earlier, I thought you got accepted already, my bad.

I would take classes at a community college, they will probably be easier and for sure be cheaper than the crazy expensive summer prices @ UCSD. Plus you might be able to take some online.

This may sound like a dumb question, but are we allowed to take classes for our major at a CC?

If so, does it go in our GPA for our major? I know it doesnt count for our UCSD GPA, but what about the major?

@Andrew: check with your department, many have different policies.

It won’t count for your major GPA from UCSD, but grad schools will average them together.
