Summer Classes: Financial Aid Question

So, I took two 4 unit summer classes to get financial aid (minimum 6 units). I have finished my session A class but I am planning to drop my session C class. And I am looking for feedback on how my financial aid will be impacted. HAs anyone been in a similar situation?

It is likely it will impact your summer aid. If you are rquired to take 6 hours to be eligible then not taking 6 will probably mean loss of any summer aid.

My understanding is that if your aid involves federal loans then you are not eligible for those loans if you drop below 6 hours (a federal rule - the school has no choice). My daughter’s also took summer classes and her school would not even disburse the Stafford loan until she reached the required minimum hours (which meant the loan was not disbursed until after the beginning of the 2nd session though she took 5 hours the first session). The other aid depends on what it is. The Pell grant for instance is based on number of hours. The school will have their own rules for any institutional aid.

You need to check with your school in case you find dropping the class may cause you to have to repay any funds.
