Summer Classes or no?

Are you taking summer classes prior to transferring this Fall? I don't have to take any classes, and I originally didn't report that I would in the UC application too. However, we have a very long summer, and I thought maybe I could squeeze in just one class prior to transfer to fulfill a GE requirement. The process is very tedious however, but worth it for the credits I think.

But, at the same time, I want to put off the class until Fall because I want to meet new people/form relationships! Who knows, the same class I take at a UC might be a life-changer! I could also potentially learn more in the UC class vs. the same course offered by the CC or university class.

What do you guys think I should do?

I just graduated today and I’m taking a class at my CC over the summer.

I think it’s a good idea because you may need elective credit and/or GE units.

Bottom line it helps you and keeps your brain fresh on academics for the Fall rather then being like not on the ball

I wouldn’t use wanting to meet new people as a reason to put off a class til Fall… if you don’t take this one during Fall, you’ll have a different class in your schedule. So you’d still have just as many opportunities to make new friends. Same logic for what you’ll get out of the class… if it’s GE, I assume you’re not using it as a pre-req for another class, and if you take it now you’ll have more time for classes that interest you during the normal semester.

But price and spending all summer in school are definitely reasons to consider not taking classes, so weigh your options and do what you think is best.

I transferred a while ago, I actually took summer classes at UCB before transferring. I was missing pre-reqs I couldn’t take at my CC, so I used summer to catch up. For me it worked out pretty well.
