Summer Classes

Is it better to take summer classes at your “home institution” that awards you your degree, so that your GPA there is boosted, or is it sufficient to take summer classes anywhere? I’m asking because this is my 1st semester at my new school (3rd college semester), and I think my cumulative GPA may take a dip. I definitely plan on taking summer classes to boost my GPA, so I wanted to know if it makes a difference in graduate admissions where I got what exact grade. (I plan on getting a clinical, counseling, or school psychology PhD, if that makes any difference).

It is better to take them at your home institution so that you can be certain they will apply toward your degree.

If you take them elsewhere, clear their transferability with your home institution before you drop your money on them.

@happymomof1 thanks!
