i will graduate in may9(future engineering major) . So i was thinking about taking ENGL 1301(1st english class at all texas colleges) at my local community college. May be some other class too?? my question is IS IT A GOOD IDEA FOR FIRST TIME COLLEGE STUDENT TO TAKE SUMMER CLASSES considering that they are fast paced. If yes what classes would be easier to take during the summer semester?? I dont want to hurt my gpa.
what shoud i do??

anybody???

How long is the duration 6 weeks, 3 weeks? If 3 weeks, then I'd say wait a little while till you get in the hang of things.

there is SUMMER I(4weeks) and SUMMER II(9weeks)

Most college courses but not all require you to read alot of material. If you can keep up give it a try.

You can always use rate my professor to help give you a vague idea of what to expect from a professor.

How do i do that? also what class would be easy enough to complete during a 4weeks or 9 weeks

So your a HS student and want to go to community college during summer? or your in college?

I would say go for it, community college is not that diffucult and if you take 1 class here and there you should be fine as long as your prepared for that class, do not take a class your unprepared for.

go to www.ratemyprofessor.com
find your school an dcheck your teacher, ... this will give you an idea of what teachers to take and what teachers to avoid.

You might want to take some general education courses like art, or some other humanaties courses.

Or, take math in the summers...... being an engineering major you will need a good chunk of math so the earlier you get it done the better for you.

i am a high school student. i'll graduate in may. Is it good idea to take 1 semster English during summer??

Honestly? I wouldnt. Use your summer to kick back, enjoy not having any summer assignments, and prepare for college. I think I wouldve died if I hit college for the first tie after spending 9, or even 4, weeks in a classroom over the summer. If youre worried youll get behind if you dont take this class, just wait till you get to college and talk to an advisor. You can always make up something during the next summer. But dont launch yourself into college too early, youll just be stressed out when it comes to having to be on top of 14-17 credits for the first time. =)

And this comes from a fellow engineering. Trust me, enjoy your summer =)

I know what you mean. But if i take a 3 credit level English class or History in summer. My course load would be if not easy then not to much in the Fall semester.

it doesn't matter. It will still be a shock, and some college don't let you take below 15 credits. Trust me, you'll want an English or History class to help out your GPA in engineering. If you take it during the summer, the GPA won't transfer.
Seriously, take the summer off =) Schools lay out curriculums that are very flexible and doable, don't worry about classes

those professor rating websites are only helpful when theres a LOT of responses and the majority agree..

those things are pointless when its like 5 replies...3 positive, 2 negative..

i've had professors i've loved but according to these websites, were hard or mean...

and vise versa..

the best way to choose a professor aside from the internet, is to actually meet them. obviously you wont get a sense of their grading system..but you can tell if they're nice or cold and what not...or just sit in on a class they currently teach in preparation for taking the same class with them in the future..if its that important to you
