I decided to take some basic core classes for communication at a community college this summer. If some of the classes I take at the college overlap with some of the required classes next fall, would I be able to transfer my credit to Steinhardt?

or is there a way I can enroll in summer session directly at NYU?

Does anyone know?

thank you!

Yes, but...

"Freshman, Transfer, Graduate Degree Applicants

If you applied or plan to apply for an NYU degree program beginning in spring 2007, summer 2007, or fall 2007, as either a freshman, transfer, or graduate student, you may not be eligible to register for Summer in Greenwich Village. Decisions rendered by the admissions office will determine eligibility for summer registration.

Students who are admitted to a degree program and plan to accept the offer of admission must contact the appropriate admissions office. These students do not submit the NYU Summer Registration Form. Instead, they should contact their designated NYU adviser for clearance to register and for further instructions."

Thank you hkstrpd,

where did you get the quote from above?

If you want to transfer credits in, you should talk to an adviser. They'll probably tell you either it can't be done, or you can if they determine that the classes are actually equivalent (which means getting a copy of the syllabus or at least the course descriptions for the summer classes you plan on taking and sending it to your adviser or the communications dept)
