Summer College Programs for High School Students Without Breaking the Bank?

I am a high school junior and I realize the great importance of how I spend the summer before my senior year. However, it is hard for me to find something worthwhile to put on an application without being thousands of dollars. Even two week programs at a university for no credit is upwards of $2,000. Are there any cheaper programs that you could suggest? Or other options on how to spend my summer that would help out on my college app?

Thanks in advance,
gigglebot3

Also, I live in Indianapolis, Indiana.

@gigglebot3 - Find somewhere worthwhile to volunteer. Or just get a job.

Your local community college may open classes to HS juniors & seniors. Our D took a community college class (for free) the summer before her senior year in HS.

But @stepay is right, a job or meaningful volunteer hours would be just as good.

Maybe you can enroll in a course in a local college for the summer semester. Look around. Summer programs intended for high school students usually cost more, especially when you need to pay for housing, dining, etc. I’m thinking about taking a class a local college (not a CC) over the summer, and it offers an extremely discounted rate for in-state students.
